Originally from Brazil, Luis Hermano Bezerra is a composer who currently resides in the United States. As a composer, Bezerra's music has been commissioned and performed by ensembles and organizations including the Arditti Quartet, [Switch~ Ensemble], the Sheldon Arts Foundation in St. Louis, the Sinquefield Foundation, the Mizzou New Music Ensemble, and the Cortona Sessions.
As an educator, he served as an instructor at the Alberto Nepomuceno Conservatory in Brazil. After moving to the United States, Luis worked as a Lab Assistant for the Missouri Summer Composition Institute at the University of Missouri and as a graduate teaching assistant with the Mizzou New Music Initiative, where he taught composition and music theory. He recently earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Composition from the Florida State University College of Music, where he served as a graduate assistant in the Theory and Composition area.
